Ring work lives or dies on the groove and the drilling. We issue CAD and 3D models so the geometry is settled before the part is cut.

A ring type joint groove has a defined width, depth, angle and surface finish, and a gasket that has to match it. A ring blind has to fit a specific gap and carry a specific differential. An AWWA ring flange has to match a bolt template that may or may not be the one the rest of the line uses. None of that is a conversation to have after machining.

Send us a sketch, a marked-up print, a scan of an old drawing or a sample, and we will issue a dimensioned drawing for approval before release to the floor.

Why ask for a model

Groove and gasket match

Confirm the ring number, groove geometry and face type against the gasket actually being supplied.

Drilling template

AWWA, ASME and API templates differ. The model proves the holes line up with the mating flange.

Blind and spacer stack-up

Spectacle blinds and paddle spacers have to fit the gap with the gasket compressed. Model it before you cut it.

Handling and lift points

Large rings need rigging plans. The model gives weight and centre of gravity.

Formats

We work in the formats piping and mechanical groups actually use. Tell us what your system needs and we will issue in that.

FormatUse
PDFDimensioned drawing for review, approval and the shop floor
DWG / DXF2D CAD geometry, profile and drilling layout
STEP / IGESNeutral 3D solids. Import into any major CAD or plant design system
STLMesh geometry for visualisation and additive prototyping
Dimensioned CAD drawing of a flange showing plan and section views with callouts
A dimensioned drawing issued for approval. Geometry agreed on paper first, then cut.

What to send us

Any of these is enough to start:

  • A marked-up print or a hand sketch with the critical dimensions
  • A scan or photograph of an existing drawing, including old and faded ones
  • A sample part, which we can measure
  • The size, class, facing and material if it is a standard pattern
  • A STEP file, if the geometry already exists in your model

Drawings are issued for approval, not as a catalog. A drawing we produce for your job describes your part. Dimensional data for the published standard patterns lives on the weights and dimensions page and on the Texas Flange tables.

Need a drawing before you commit?

Send the print, or send the size, class and grade. Texas Flange quotes quickly.
